Salman Khan REACTS On Bollywood VS South Debate, Says 'Your Films Are Accepted Here But Our Films Aren’t Accepted There'
Salman Khan is all set to make his Telugu film debut with a cameo in GodFather. The actor is currently on a promotional spree for the film and during the film’s press conference, Dabangg Khan spoke about the ongoing debate over south films vs Bollywood. 

Speaking about the same, Salman Khan shared how films from the south industries have pan-India acceptance but Bollywood films struggle to find that.

For the unversed, GodFather stars Chiranjeevi in the lead role along with Nayanthara, while Salman Khan has a cameo in the film. GodFather is a remake of the Malayalam film Lucifer, which had Mohanlal in lead. 


Salman and Chiranjeevi addressed a press conference in Mumbai as part of the film’s promotions on Saturday, reported Hindustan Times.

Salman, during the press conference, told Chiranjeevi, “Your films are being accepted here but our films aren’t accepted there.” This prompted the south star to say, “We are here to take you. This is one of the reasons why I asked Sallu Bhai to come through in this film.”

Interestingly, in the past year, several south films including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, have performed well, however, Bollywood films tanked leading to poor business at the box office. Telugu films like RRR and Kannada release KGF: Chapter 2 have even done better than all Hindi releases in the time period.


An India Today report also quoted Salman Khan talking how the film industries can benefit from the cross-pollination of talents. 

“People want to go to Hollywood, I want to go South. The thing is once you start working together, just imagine the numbers we will all have. That is the main thing that people watch it here, people watch it in the South. You have all the theatres, fans, go and watch him, me. Even they become my fans, we become his fans. Everyone just grows and grows and the numbers become really large. We say ₹300 crore, ₹400 crore. If all of us get together, we can cross ₹3000- ₹4000 crore,” Salman Khan was quoted as saying by India Today. 

Directed by Mohan Raja and produced by Ram Charan, R. B. Choudary and N. V. Prasad, GodFather is the story of a mysterious man ascending to fill the power vacuum left by the death of a political leader. The film will be released in theatres on October 5.
